Food

Hello, your son or daughter will be having one quarter of food science with me this year.  Food Science is 4th hour, but should not be a substitute for lunch as we will not be cooking every day.

If your child is in 7th grade this year, they will have a second (follow-up) Food Science again next year. 

This first year we will be covering a variety of topics including:   kitchen safety, measuring and measurements in food lab, macromolecules, reading food labels, caloric intake and meal planning, 

The second year (8th graders only) will focus on food safety, food perservation methods through history and today, scientific principles of mixture/colloids and biologically modified foods.

I will be trying to have a cooking lab each week to go with the 
information we are covering. Assignments can be dropped box or 
handed in the classroom box.
