Home and School Partnership Compact

 

The purpose of our Home and School Partnership Compact is to reflect the shared responsibility for improving student achievement. We know that students learn best when everyone works together to encourage learning. This compact is an agreement to work as a team to help your child achieve in school. Together, we can improve teaching and learning.

 

 

School Staff Responsibilities

We, as a staff, have high expectations for our students, and want them to succeed. Therefore, we will strive to do the following:

·       * Provide a safe, nurturing environment for the students to develop a positive self-esteem.

·       * Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables children to meet the state’s academic standards.

·       * Post standards and curriculum maps on the school websites, provide information about curriculum on classroom websites and in weekly newsletters, and provide parents information on standardized testing.

·       *Hold parent-teacher conferences during the fall and the spring of every school year during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, these conferences will be held Nov. 19 and 24, 2015, and April 12 and 14, 2016.

·       *Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Information will be shared at conferences and/or via emails, phone calls, and notes home. Specifically, the school will provide information as follows: report cards at the end of each quarter, mid-quarter reports for students in grades 4-6, standardized test results,

·       *Provide parents reasonable access to staff, opportunities to volunteer, to participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities. Teachers will include in their classroom policies and in their weekly newsletters information regarding volunteering in the classroom. Parents can call or email their children’s teachers to inquire about opportunities and to schedule visits. Attend staff development sessions to explore strategies and materials to help each child reach his/her highest potential.

·       * Help hold students accountable for ownership of their learning.

Parent Responsibilities

We, as parents, have high expectations for our child, and want him/her to succeed. Therefore, we will strive to do the following:

·        * Monitor attendance.

·       * Make sure that homework is completed.

·       * Listen to my child read at his/her level.

·       * Volunteer in my child’s classroom.

·       * Attend parent/teacher conferences.

·       * Promote positive use of my child’s extracurricular time.

·       * Monitor amount of screen time (TV, electronic games, and computers) my child has.

·       * Stay informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate.

·       * Keep the school informed of issues in my child’s life that may affect their learning.

·       * Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children’s education by serving to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as being the Title I parent representative on the school’s School Improvement Team.

Student Responsibilities

It is important to have high expectations of myself and to work to the best of my ability. Therefore, I will strive to do the following:

·       * Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need to.

·       * Read at least 20 minutes every day outside of school time.

·       * Give to my parents or the adult who is responsible for me all notices and information received by me from my school every day.

·       * Respect and cooperate with my parents, my peers, and the school staff.

·       * Accept responsibility by listening and completing assignments neatly, on time, and to the best of my ability.

·       * Always try to do my best.

·       * Ask my teacher and my parents for help when I need it.

·       * Limit screen time (TV, electronic games, and computers) and make time for studying and reading.
